What is ADHD Coaching? (And what is it not?)
ADHD coaching is a confidential and collaborative relationship where we (the coach and the client) work together as partners to identify your goals and use your strengths to reach those goals. Along the way we identify areas of challenge that we can work on together. We work on skills to overcome roadblocks to success. Those skills can then be utilized to reach other goals, in other areas of your life, and initiate a spiral of success. Because the coaching process takes into account your unique challenges of living and working with ADHD, it is uniquely tailored to your life and your goals.
Coaching is not therapy or tutoring. Coaches have training unique to the profession and are very careful to observe the ethical boundaries between the professions. Some, but not all, clients work with a therapist and/or a tutor as well as a coach. Clients are often most successful with a "multi-modal" treatment plan that includes more than one of these options.
